World Sea Turtle Day
June 16
June 16th is World Sea Turtle Day because it is the birthday of Dr. Archie Carr who is widely known as “the father of sea turtle biology.” Dr. Carr focused his entire career on sea turtle research and conservation. Of the 7 species of sea turtles all but one is threatened, endangered and with the Kemp’s Ridley and the hawksbill sea turtles being critically endangered.
